PCV TRAINING TEST

What is the PCV driver training test?
  
The PCV training test is meant for drivers of passenger carrying vehicles, that is conducted by various agencies. This test mainly requires 90 minutes. This driver training test usually includes:
  • Questions regarding safety of vehicles,
  • practical road driving
  • off-road exercises
During the PCV training test, these are mainly noticed:

  • how the controls of a vehicle are used,
  • move away at an angle, uphill and downhill
  • performance during the braking test
  • the use of mirrors
  • whether he is giving all necessary signals correctly
During this PCV training test, he is also given 10 minutes for independent driving that is usually designed for testing his ability of driving in a safe manner.
The off-road exercises include:
  • a reverse which is “S” shaped and into a bay
  • showing the uncoupling and re-coupling method but only if he is undergoing a test along with trailer
What are the requirements of the test?
In order to appear for the PCV training test, a person has to be 18 years at least and must have a full car license (i.e. category B entitlement). If he is a professional bus, lorry or coach driver, it is important for him to have a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence

How will you know the results of the test?
Once he has completed the practical test, he will come to know if he has passed and simultaneously, he will be explained how he has performed. In case he has failed to pass, he will not be allowed to appear for the test again before next three working days have passed.

What are the rules for different vehicles used in this test?
Coaches, buses as well as lorries which are driven at the time of the practical test must follow a number of rules, without which he will not be allowed to drive them for the bus driver test.

  • the vehicle has to be fitted with externally mounted nearside and also  offside mirrors that include mirrors which are positioned properly so that the driver may use it easily,
a seat belt meant for the examiner and also for someone else who shall be supervising the test
